6 Bedroom detached house Burton Road, Derby, Derbyshire £950,000

This magnificent detached home is located within easy reach of Derby city centre. Designed to make a statement from its Georgian-style façade to its stunning indoor swimming pool. With flexible accommodation throughout this is one not to be missed.

THE STORY
Greeting visitors in the impressive hall or taking a morning swim in their luxurious indoor pool - the owners of the magnificent house on Burton Road have designed a home to meet their every need. It was approximately 15 years ago now that they found the plot, which was within easy reach of the centre of Derby and convenient for work, and opted to build their dream home there. "There was already a house on the site but we decided to rebuild it in a design to reflect the way we wanted to live at the time," one of them explains. "We wanted a house, where every detail was carefully considered, from the grand, open hallway, where we could greet our visitors, to the bedrooms that were individually designed so each was special in its own way."
EXQUISITE FEATURES
Today the outstanding house has a wealth of attractive features. The stunning entrance hall features a marble staircase, with a wrought-iron balustrade and brass handrail. There is also an exquisite, Italian marble floor, with a decorative inlay, and a raised arch feature. "We can then take visitors on through into the drawing room, which has an individually designed, marble fireplace or into the library, which has been finished with hand-crafted oak fittings. This is a lovely, light room, which is where I keep all my books."
LAVISH ENTERTAINING
Elegant dinner parties can be held in the dining room and in the summer months French windows from the drawing room and dining room can be opened on to the garden. There are also two more generous family rooms, which are currently adjoining and could have all sorts of uses to suit the needs of the new owners, from children's playrooms to second sitting rooms or studies. "This is a very homely house, which is comfortable and welcoming," he adds. "We currently have two kitchens, which makes it easy to prepare food when you are entertaining but also means the house could be ideal for more than one family group."
BEAUTIFUL BEDROOMS
Up the sweeping staircase on the first floor is a spectacular galleried landing. Here there is room to create yet another seating or relaxation area. This space also has an exciting feature ceiling, with fibre optic lighting and doors out on to a balcony to the front of the house. There are six bedrooms, including the master bedroom, with its enormous dressing room and private bathroom. Doors at one end give on to another balcony and at the other lead down to a roof garden above the swimming pool. "Two of the other bedrooms have en suite shower rooms and one has doors on to another balcony overlooking the front garden."
IN THE SWIM
The swimming pool has been a significant part of life at the Burton Road house, explains the owner. "When the children were younger they enjoyed it greatly and now our grandchildren take pleasure from it too. The swimming pool has doors that are kept open on to the garden in the summer, as well as its own kitchen and changing facilities." Many happy occasions have been spent around the swimming pool over the years the family have been at the house. "We have also had parties out in the garden in the summer and in the house when it has been colder. This is a house that can be enjoyed with friends throughout all the seasons."
WONDERFUL LIFE
The position of the house on Burton Road has also been perfect for the family, giving them excellent access to shops, schools and the centre of Derby. "Living here has been very easy - not only for getting into Derby itself but also for picking up main roads to other places," he says. Derby is the UK's most central city and is popular for its proximity to the Peak District too, where there are opportunities for walking, climbing, cycling and horse-riding. It is also an area known for its good local food, pubs and restaurants.
SETTING THE SCENE
Tucked away behind wrought-iron gates, the Burton Road house sits in landscaped gardens. The outside areas are private and easy to manage, with sections of lawn, as well as mature trees and shrubs. There is ample car standing space and room for outside entertaining. An ornamental water feature graces the gardens and there are balconies, as well as the first floor roof garden.
