4 Bedroom detached house Medland, Woughton Park £650,000

Bright, modern and spacious, the property on Medland is ideal for a growing family and could possibly be extended further by new owners if they wished

The airy, spacious house on Medland was exactly what Juraj and Silvia Marko were looking for when they relocated to the UK. In fact, they loved it so much when they lived in the property as tenants that they decided to make it their own. “We moved here from Slovakia and were advised to live in Milton Keynes instead of London as it had so much to offer – and we haven’t been disappointed,” Juraj remembers. “It has been a great place to live and it is so easy to commute into London from here. Initially, the idea was to rent the house while we looked for somewhere permanent but after living here for a year we decided to ask the landlord if we could buy it because we liked it so much. He agreed and we have now made lots of changes to it to suit our own style of living.”

LEAFY LIVING
The four-bedroom house is set back from the road in the leafy Woughton Park quarter of Milton Keynes. It has a modern design, with ample living space and well-proportioned rooms. “We liked it as soon as we saw it,” Juraj recalls. “My wife says she knew it was the one immediately – it was set on a quiet cul-de-sac and it had a nice ambience. Our children were aged eight and 12 at the time and we realised it could be a very special place for them to grow up.” As soon as the couple bought the house from their landlord, they began making changes to it. They replaced both bathrooms and the cloakroom and they had a new kitchen installed. “We also had the whole house replastered and redecorated, and brought in new flooring,” he adds. “We hired a landscape designer and a new terrace was laid.”
FAMILY LIVING
With a generous driveway and double garage to the front, the property can be entered from either side. The front door, to the right, opens into a very generous reception hall, leading to the cloakroom, kitchen and dining room. The sleek, contemporary kitchen, which leads into a utility area, has doors that open on to the garden and is well designed for any keen chefs. “Silvia and I both enjoy cooking and so we spend a lot of time in the kitchen,” he observes. “It adjoins the dining room, where we have a large table and lots of space for both family meals and entertaining.”
ALL SEASONS
Double doors from the dining room lead into the sitting room, where there is a large, modern-style bay window which brings the natural light flooding in. “Again, this room is a very good size, with plenty of room for everyone to be together.” A door from here opens into the conservatory, an area that makes a great year-round space for both family relaxation and entertaining. “We often sit in here to have a drink when we have friends round,” Juraj admits. “In summer, we have the doors open and everyone wanders in and out. We sometimes grill food out in the fresh air on warm evenings. In the winter, the conservatory is very warm and it is a great place to unwind and enjoy some sunshine.”
BRIGHT IDEAS
All four bedrooms are on the first floor of the house. Here the sumptuous master suite has large windows and built-in storage. Its en suite bathroom is particularly impressive, comprising two separate very generous areas. “The children have each been able to have their own rooms and there is also a good-sized family bathroom,” he says. “The fourth bedroom has been used by us as a dressing room but could equally be a child’s room or a study.” The property does hold potential for possible extension, he continues. “Some of our neighbours have extended their homes. We were going to look into building out to the side to create a gym and private cinema if we weren’t moving back to Slovakia. There could also be potential to do something exciting with the garage space.”
A SPECIAL PLACE
The family have enjoyed their time at Woughton Park. They have found it exceptionally convenient for getting into Milton Keynes, travelling to London and visiting nearby parks. “We go to Woughton Park itself every day because it is so beautiful,” Juraj explains. “This is such a lovely quiet area and yet it is easy to get to wherever you want. I think we will miss everything about this house when we leave. If didn’t have to relocate we would stay here for every – a home like this is a true rarity.”
