4 Bedroom detached house Walton Road, Milton Keynes £875,000

This bright, south-facing house on Walton Road offers generous family accommodation and beautiful gardens within the sought after location of Walnut Tree

From the windows of the house on Walton Road there are beautiful views of the mature garden and its surrounding greenery. “We are set back from the road and enjoy a sense of seclusion,” one of the current owners explains. “It is very quiet here: we are not overlooked and are lucky enough to have a south-facing garden, which also goes all the way round the house.” Internally, he continues, there is also an air of tranquillity. “The house itself is also very light, with large windows and very good-sized rooms. We liked its Neo-Georgian style and have enjoyed its spaciousness and flow between rooms. It has been a very comfortable place to live.”

PERFECT POSITION
Dating back to 1997, the impressive property has been home to the couple for about 12 years. “We viewed a lot of houses across all areas of Milton Keynes,” he recalls. “We were looking for somewhere that was within reasonable commuting distance of the centre of town and of London too. When we found this place we realised the location was excellent. It was within very easy reach of the station, with trains taking just 35 minutes into central London.” He adds: “It also enjoys fast access to the M1, has good schools close by and is just a few minutes from a new Waitrose supermarket and other shopping centres.”
EXCELLENT LAYOUT
The home is entered via a very generous central reception hall. This leads into all the main living spaces. To the left is the capacious drawing room, which has a triple aspect, feature inglenook fireplace and French windows on to the garden. “This is a marvellous room because it is such a good size,” he says. “This has been a superb house accommodating lots of people.” There is also a study for those wishing to be able to work from home, a dining room, with additional doors on to the garden, and a ground floor cloakroom. “We did remodel the ground floor to create a large eat-in kitchen,” he explains. “This has granite work surfaces and has been well-equipped with two fridge-freezers, eye-level oven and combination microwave oven and integrated dishwasher. It leads into a scullery or utility room, where we have the washing machine and tumble dryer.”
GENEROUS ACCOMMODATION
All the bedroom and bathroom accommodation is on the first floor. “The master bedroom is particularly nice as it is so large, with plenty of storage, and has a large, four-piece, en suite bathroom. We also have a very large guest room, which enjoys its own en-suite shower room.” With two more bedrooms and a family bathroom it has been easy to accommodate friends and family when they have visited. “We do also have a very large attic, which (subject to the relevant planning permissions) could lend itself to conversion into additional bedroom and bathroom space should someone require it.”
GARDEN GLORY
The interior of the house has been regularly redecorated and new carpets have recently been laid throughout. The grounds have also been looked after. “The garden had been well landscaped when we arrived and has been improved further in our time here,” he says. “We have enjoyed it very much, especially sitting out in the summer months on the sunny terrace, where we have a retractable awning.” The property has been an excellent place to entertain, he stresses. “There is lots of room in the garden and then we have a large table in the dining room where we can seat up to 10 people.”
A PEACEFUL PLACE
Caldecotte Lake is just 10 minutes’ walk from the house and is a beautiful place to while away the afternoon. With areas to fish, walk, run and cycle around the lake, it is a desirable beauty spot for local people of all ages. It is also popular with canoeists and sailors, as well as wildlife enthusiasts. A wide range of birds can be spotted, including swans, geese, ducks, great crested grebes and reed warblers. “There is a lot to do in this area,” he observes. “As well as all the facilities of central Milton Keynes, there are gyms and health centres nearby.” He adds: “We have enjoyed being here very much. We have some very good neighbours and it is a quiet yet very convenient place to be.”
