4 Bedroom detached house Welsummer Grove, Milton Keynes £565,000

From the beautiful cherry tree in the garden to the stylish, contemporary interior, the house on Welsummer Grove at Shenley Brook End has been a magnificent home

When the current owners moved into their house on Welsummer Grove, the gorgeous cherry tree in the garden came as a complete surprise. “We arrived here in April and just a few weeks later in May the tree burst into the most beautiful, completely white blossom,” he recalls. “We had no idea it would be so magnificent and that it would bring us so much pleasure in the time we have been here.” The couple moved to the house from Richmond. Only the second people ever to have lived here, they were drawn to it by the very private, walled garden; the internal space it offered and the sought-after Shenley Brooke End setting. “Our first impression of the house was that it was in fantastic condition,” he continues. “We loved the location as well: it was close to lots of nice green, open spaces and places to walk – and it was just a stone’s throw away from some very good schools.”

EXTRA SPACE
Built in 2003, the detached house offers well-proportioned, two-storey accommodation that is ideal for family living. “It was ready for us to move straight into – there was very little for us to do, which was fantastic,” he remembers. “The previous owner had also converted part of the garage into a gym. This has been fantastic – it has suited us to continue to use it as a gym.” For the next owners, however, the converted former garage area could have all sorts of other uses. It could be ideal as an office, teenagers’ den or another leisure or hobby space. “Or it could even be converted back into a garage,” the owner suggests.
FAMILY TIME
Set back from the road by a driveway providing off-road parking for two cars, the property is entered via a covered porch. There is a generous, central reception hall with access to the downstairs cloakroom, the kitchen dining room and the very large sitting room, with its beautiful bay window which brings the natural light flooding in. “This is a great family room. It is where we sit to chat, watch movies and play games,” he says. “It is also a really nice room for entertaining visitors in as there is plenty of space.”
SPRING AND SUMMER
Double doors from the hall open into the kitchen dining room. This also has a very modern style, featuring wooden units, dark work surfaces and ample space for a dining table and chairs. At one end there is access to the utility room, which in turn has a door to the garden. At the other end of the kitchen dining room, great glass doors can be opened up to the garden on summer days. “We love to sit here for our meals or to enjoy a cup of coffee and look out as we chat,” he says. “In the springtime, when the cherry tree is in blossom it is simply amazing!”
A WARM WELCOME
This part of the house also really comes into its own when friends and family members visit. “We have a lot of friends who come to see us from right across the UK,” the seller explains. “Whenever the weather is warm we all sit outside on the grass and it feels very private.” The property could lend itself to the addition of a conservatory or garden room, should new owners wish to consider it, he suggests. “There is plenty of room out here and it would be a great enhancement to the house.” The first floor of the property is also perfect for accommodating visitors. The generous master bedroom has an en suite shower room and there are three additional bedrooms and a family bathroom. “We use one of the bedrooms as an office and another as a dressing room,” he explains. “This leaves a good-sized bedroom and the bathroom for guests to use when they come to stay.”
HAPPY DAYS
The current owners will miss the tranquillity of Welsummer Grove when they leave. “It is a peaceful place to live and yet it is also so convenient,”. “We find it very easy to get to shops and supermarkets, as well as forests and parks. We love to walk to Furzton Lake from here – it is one of our favourite places to go.” They have also found it easy to reach central Milton Keynes and to travel into London when necessary. “We have really enjoyed the time we have spent here,” he adds. “The house is lovely; the garden is beautiful and it is a friendly community. We will miss everything about it when we leave, especially the cherry tree.”
