A Paralympic champion has inspired the first intake of trainees at Spicerhaart’s newly launched, state-of-the-art training academy with his personal success strategies.

Danny Crates, an accomplished athlete who lost his arm in a car accident, officially inaugurated the Spicerhaart Academy Training Centre at the company’s headquarters in Colchester. This cutting-edge facility signifies a major investment in nurturing talent within Spicerhaart.

The academy is set up to deliver exceptional training, merging theoretical knowledge with practical application. Its intensive programmes are designed to provide new recruits with the skills required for immediate success. Senior leaders will also impart their expertise, offering valuable insights into achieving outstanding results.

Antony Lark, Joint CEO, remarked: “We are thrilled to unveil our new training centre, a key component of our strategy to advance standards within the property sector by investing in emerging talent. Our aim is to provide thorough training and foster a culture of excellence, ensuring our recruits not only meet but exceed client expectations.

“Our facilities feature specialised areas such as a call-out suite and a door-knocking room, allowing trainees to refine their sales skills both in person and over the phone. This integrated approach to learning will enable our new team members to make a meaningful impact from their first day, including those who join Chewton Rose.”

Danny Crates, who won a Paralympic gold medal in the 800m at the Athens 2004 Games and a bronze in the 400m at Sydney in 2000, shared his personal experiences with the new recruits. As a former Paralympic World Record holder and multiple gold medallist at the World and European Championships, Danny’s journey provided a powerful message of perseverance and achievement.

Reflecting on the event, Danny said: “It was a privilege to address those starting their careers at Spicerhaart and to share my own journey. Excellence is fundamental to athletics, and I see the same commitment in the senior team here. I hope the trainees found my session motivating and are inspired to continually improve.

“I believe that success is a result of talent, hard work, and effective guidance, and I’m confident the Spicerhaart Academy Training Centre will embody this approach.”

Emma Barber, Head of Training & Development, commented: “This centre will be pivotal in the learning and development across Spicerhaart, including for our esteemed Chewton Rose brand. It represents a world-class environment designed to foster growth. I’m passionate about helping individuals develop, and this academy brings together the right mix of environment, people, and processes for those new to the industry to become top performers. This is a proud moment for both Spicerhaart and the property sector.”

Belinda Jarman, Head of Training & Development for Lettings, added: “Embarking on a learning journey opens up numerous possibilities and sets the foundation for a rewarding career. I’m excited to see the significant impact our new academy will make, especially for those joining brands like Chewton Rose.”
