Supporting Magic Moments

Magic Moments is a charity dedicated to helping families with children who are suffering from life-limiting illnesses, providing funds and support to children’s hospices around the UK.

The charity, set up in 1998 by Alick and Val Smith, the parents of our Chief Executive Paul Smith, is chaired by a member of Chewton Rose's senior management team and is supported by colleagues across our business. An appointed external trustee collaborates with the charity’s committee to agree how funds should best be raised and spent.

Each year, Chewton Rose colleagues, partners, suppliers, family and friends raise money for the charity through a variety of events such as Dragon Boat racing, company quizzes, charity balls and more.

The charity has raised more than £1 million over the years and has taken hundreds of seriously ill children and their families to Lapland to see Santa and to Disneyland Paris to see Snow White and her friends. Sometimes families have been recently bereaved and they’ve expressed that the support at this very difficult time was absolutely invaluable.

Additional funds raised by Chewton Rose are used to provide UK hospices with vital equipment, electrical appliances and hoists to lift the children in and out of theirs beds or baths as well as toys and games.
