5 Bedroom detached house Greensand View, Woburn Sands £600,000

The impressive, detached house at Greensand View benefits from exceptional, versatile living space and a highly sought-after Woburn Sands location

Sioux and Paul were used to three-storey living when they moved away from London but it still took them a while to get used to all the space they enjoyed at their new Woburn Sands home. “It was so much larger than our previous house,” Sioux recalls. “All the rooms were very spacious and there were three bathrooms. The garden was also a perfect size for us – it was large but not so sizeable that our lack of green fingers was going to be an issue!” The couple opted for Woburn Sands because they loved its unique atmosphere. It was close enough to Milton Keynes to benefit from the city’s plethora of amenities and yet it still retained a traditional village feel. “It has a real sense of community, with shops, pubs, restaurants, a library and various clubs, and is close to some wonderful places to walk,” she explains. “At the same time, it is easy to reach the motorway and we are just a few minutes’ stroll from the station for travelling into London.”

VERSATILE HOME
It was almost five years ago now that the couple bought the attractive four or five-bedroom house at Greensand View. Thought to have been built around 2006, it is a striking, double-fronted, red-brick property. “We knew we wanted to have children and it seemed like an ideal family home,” she recalls. “The layout was versatile enough to accommodate all sorts of different lifestyle arrangements. For us, it seemed like the top floor could almost become a guest wing!” Since moving in, they have maintained the property and upgraded it as necessary. The en suite shower room to the master bedroom has been replaced and new plants have been added to the garden. “It was in very good condition when we bought it and is now also ready for someone else to move straight into,” she observes.
INDOOR-OUTDOOR LIVING
The symmetrical, Georgian-style house is entered via a central reception hall. To the left of this is the capacious sitting room, which is dual-aspect, reaching from front to back of the house. To the rear of this lovely space, French windows can be opened up to the garden in the warmer months. “This is an incredibly flexible room,” Sioux says. “There is ample space for our comfortable seating area, where we watch television, as well as for my husband to have his computer set up and our son to have all his toys.” She adds: “In the summer, there is a lovely flow between the house and the garden here.”
SUMMER DAYS
There is also access to a cloakroom and walk-in cupboard, as well as to a dining room and the kitchen breakfast room, from the hall. The dining room could have alternative uses as a playroom or snug and benefits from its own door through to the kitchen. “I like this part of the house because it is very sociable,” Sioux agrees. “It is nice on a daily basis but also works very well if you have lots of people over.” A door from the kitchen opens into the garden. “We have had a couple of lovely summer parties in the time we have been here.”
SUPERB LAYOUT
A central staircase leads to the upper storeys of the property. At first-floor level, this emerges to a landing with doors to a fifth bedroom or study, as well as the master bedroom and second bedroom. The master suite encompasses a walk-in dressing room, plus a large bedroom and good-sized en suite shower room. The second bedroom also has an en suite shower room. “This arrangement has worked very well for us as we are able to be on the same floor as our son,” she suggests. “On the top floor, there are two more large bedrooms and a family shower room. We use these for guests and as a work space for Paul, but they could be ideal for anyone with older children.”
A WONDERFUL PLACE
In addition to all the internal space, the couple also have a detached garage with a room at the back. This was used by previous owners as a dance studio but it could make a great gym or office. “There is so much you can do with this house, depending on your own family requirements. It has worked very well for us,” says Sioux. “Life in Woburn Sands has also been brilliant and we will miss it a great deal when we leave.” She adds: “We are only moving on now for family reasons and are very sad to go. This house has been an absolutely fantastic home and Woburn Sands is a wonderful place to live.”
